Services & Resources
School Services
The are a variety of supports and resources offered by New Approach. Mrs. Jimenez understands that each case is unique and will require an individualized plan. Schools will have an opportunity to choose which approach they would like to take. Below are 3 services offered for 3 different student profiles along with a description of the process.

Disruptive Student
It's always a good idea for schools to be vigilant of a student on the verge of becoming 'a problem'. If a student is being brought up for their disruptive behaviour often New Approach could come into the picture with a fresh pair of eyes and offer some new strategies. Getting the student on track before they go completely off the rails will make a world of difference for the students' success and the classroom and school environment as a whole.

Violent Student
It's well known that schools have a zero tolerance for violence. When a school has used all the resources they have available and ends up suspending a student it's time for a New Approach and to get planning! Partnering with New Approach will give schools access to great resources that will help get their student to take full responsibility for their behaviour. Having time to reflect during their suspension with modules to work on that will assist them in gaining empathy is an important tool to prevent re-offending.

Returning to School Support
The goal should always be to have a behavioural student return to class/school. Feeling included and a part of the school environment is very important to kids with behavioural difficulties (even if it doesn't seem like they care). New Approach can support schools in creating a return-to-school plan that will help the student return to school and thrive once there.
The Process

1
Intake Meeting
Schools will be given an opportunity to inform Mrs. Jimenez about what is going on with their student. Sharing what strategies have been used as well as what plans have been put in place. Schools will share what type of support they are currently seeking.
2
Collaboration Meeting
During this meeting schools and Mrs. Jimenez will partner together to create a plan for the student in crisis. The school and Mrs. Jimenez will agree on a New Approach plan working collaboratively to bring this student success. Schools will decide on the length of time for the support. Schools will have access to Mrs. Jimenez and New Approach resources for the duration of this partnership.
3
Wrap Up Meeting
Mrs. Jimenez and the school will come together for one last meeting to wrap things up. During this time schools and Mrs. Jimenez will agree on next steps that will ensure the student continues to thrive. The school will also have an opportunity to request an extension of service if needed.
Resources Available to Schools
Modules
Partnering with New Approach gives schools access to the interactive modules Fiona Jimenez has created as a tool to help students develop empathy and take responsibility. Students will engage in discussions and activities that will allow them to see things from others' point of view. The goal of the modules is to prevent reoffence; which can only happen after the student is able to understand the harm their actions caused.
Workshops
Fiona Jimenez is available to lead workshops on the following topics in person or virtually:

-
Classroom management
-
Think Sheets
-
Behavioural Modification Plans
-
Safety Plans
-
Safety Flow Charts
-
Incentive Programs
-
Behaviour Tracking Sheets
Virtual Coaching
Through their partnership with New Approach; schools will have the unique opportunity to have Fiona Jimenez available for virtual coaching. Fiona thrives in a triage-type setting therefore this is a great opportunity for schools to have her available while in the thick of things. For instance when a student is being disruptive in the office.
At Home Support
The expectation from schools is that the plans put in place for their behavioural students will be followed at home as well. Far too often this is not happening; there is a disconnect. Without this consistency, the student will not gain strides in making better choices. It is important for families to be on board with schools for the sake of their child having successful school days. Mrs. Jimenez understands this is not easy for families to do on their own. This is why she developed New Approach; to bridge that gap between school and home.

Mrs. Jimenez will offer you support in the home through home visits where she will be coaching and modeling. During the collaboration process Mrs. Jimenez will help you decide on strategies and plans of action to deal with your young person's behaviour. Any programming will be created by Mrs. Jimenez. This includes things like visual schedules and incentive programs. The idea is that Mrs. Jimenez will gradually step back as families feel they are comfortable using the tools provided and strategies modeled.

There are different packages available for families and agencies to choose from, based on the level of support needed.
The Process

1
Intake Meeting
During this meeting Mrs. Jimenez will gather all information regarding the young person needing support. A date will be set for the Observation Visit as well as the signing of the contract between New Approach and the family/agency.
2
Observation Visit(s)
During the first observation visit the young person usually catches on that Mrs. Jimenez is there to observe therefore more than 1 visit is usually required. Mrs. Jimenez will take notes as the young person goes on with their normal routine in the home. Mrs. Jimenez will then meet with the family or agency member appointed to the partnership with New Approach and discuss what was observed. Mrs. Jimenez will share her suggestion of strategies and tools that would best support the young person to turn their behaviour around. A service package will be chosen and a date to begin home visits will be scheduled.
3
Collaboration
During collaboration, a plan will be put in place with tools and strategies that will first be modeled by Mrs. Jimenez. Through coaching, Mrs. Jimenez will support the adult in charge to utilize the strategies and tools that were modeled. Mrs. Jimenez will be available in between home visits via text, emails and phone calls. At the end of the term if families and agencies would like to extend service from New Approach a new contract can be created to provide further support.
